Holiday Greeting - 2018: A Really Big Year!

December 28, 2017

New years bring new adventures, and 2018 is no different. To paraphrase Ed Sullivan: 2018 could be a really big year. Here are a few of the events we can look forward to:

• Men’s World Cup in Russia. CBS’s power rankings put Brazil at the top, followed by Germany, France, Spain, and Portugal. Unfortunately, the U.S. Men’s team didn’t qualify.1 The Women’s World Cup is in 2019. The U.S. Women’s team are currently ranked number one in the world, and they have previously won the World Cup title three times.2, 3

• Winter Olympics in South Korea. The U.S. is expected to have about 240 athletes at the event. The Drum wrote, “The Korean Winter Olympics will also hold trials on 5G. The service will not be coming out in mass in 2018, but we will start to see it deliver next year.”4

• A spacecraft on Mars. In November, the Insight, NASA’s unmanned spacecraft, will “slice into Mars’ thin atmosphere at a blistering 3.2 km (2 miles) a second, open a parachute, fire retrorockets, jettison its heat shield and land softly,” wrote The Economist.5

During the coming year, we plan to keep an eye on interest rates and industry trends and keep you up-to-date on the latest developments. If you experience any big changes, please let us know. We hope you have a wonderful 2018!
